A Different Kind of Christmas
Join us in celebrating a different kind of Christmas
Worship & Sermons
Each Sunday, we’ll explore part of what we need in order experience Christmas differently. This will include relevant preaching, scripture, inspiring music, and prayer created to open us up to God.
If you aren’t able to join us for worship, want to catch up on the conversation after a busy week, or listen again, you can find each week’s sermon here.
You can also contact Pastor Rennie if you want to discuss the sermon or weekly theme.
Generosity
Celebrating Jesus’ birth means living and giving like he did during his life. This year, we are offering two options to live and give like Jesus in preparation for his coming.
Reverse Advent Calendar - click the link for a sheet with instructions for how to participate. Wrap or decorate your box and keep it under your tree as an added reminder.
Poinsettia Memorials - This year, instead of purchasing a poinsettia in honor/memory of a loved one, we’re asking that a contribution be made to the Hendersonville Rescue Mission. Contact the church office and provide the names for each memorial you’d like to make then mail or deliver a check made out to MRUMC with “Rescue Mission Poinsettia” in the memo line to the church. A tag with your name and the name of your loved one will be attached to the poinsettias on our altar during the Advent season.

Daily Devotion
Thanks to the contributions of many members, we are able to offer a daily devotion for the season of Advent. Actually, we received more submissions than we could use! Together, we will journey through Advent on our way to a Different Kind of Christmas.
The devotional booklet begins Sunday, Nov. 29th and goes through Christmas Day. Each week begins with an invitation to sabbath, pray, and reflect on the theme of the week. Then each day after offers a brief reflection (usually with scripture and prayer) to invite us to consider how our lives can be different in the best possible way as we prepare to celebrate Jesus’ birth.
